I suppose you're right it was never officially changed. Personally, I use them interchangably. I always thought independent was more appropriate due to when RAID was being developed, even the small disks were entirely too expensive. But I guess they were cheaper than SLED's.

RAID = Redundant Array of Inexpensive/Independent Disk/Drives. It can all be used interchangeably.

Oh, it's not always redundant either! *sigh* Theorists are funny.
