Yes you can there is a patch out.. Anyway The difference between DX9 and Dx10 are slightly different as they may say its not.. I saw a screenshot the other day and the water looks much better.. But if you are gonna get a dx10 card like i did.. Why wast it playing in dx9 when dx10 is available. But when you get a dx10 card get vista at the same time!

There's no way in heck I'm switching over to Vista. I love my Windows XP just fine, and I know far too many people that used Vista and despise it with a passion. Besides, there's also the point of backwards compatability. There are a ton of semi-older video games that won't run on Vista but work fine on XP.

Just stick with Windows Xp for now until all the DX10 games come then you have no choice to get Vista.

ok you've patched your xp with dx10
now you've gotta get gfx drivers that has dx10 support under xp.
unless MS, which i doubt, officially releases dx10 for xp, it be hard to get nvidia to make you dx10 drivers

Not much I'd bet. I assume you've seen the demos and/or screens of the games that have been patched to DX10. In DX10 the only thing I can notice is that the shadows are a little sharper or more defined. Detail looks identical and DX10 will have an average of 15-25fps with a 8800GTX at a lower res and little or no AA and AF turned on.

I will not own a DX10 card for a long time...kinda sucks as I upgraded my PSU for a SLI or crossfire of 8800's or 2900's quite a while ago (lol...waited for the 2900). By the time I actually get a new card or cards I bet they will have the power consuption turned down a bit. I think the EPA will make them eventually .
