if you don't want to wait till there are posts of people buying Q6600's off newegg and getting G0 steppings which I assume would be sometime like... say... mid September-ish then yes... (that we know of) check out the thread called "GO GO GO!!! (Q6600 thread)" I am trying my best to summarize it all in the first post

After this price drop for the Quad, when do you guys think will be another one and for how much?

As far as limited quantities YES!

I'm trying to remember what my Econ (Economics) teacher said about supply and demand!

Anyways the future is multiple cores! I'm not saying 4 cores is future prof but it's a stepping stone! Why? well think about it Intel is coming out with 8 cores in 2009 then 16 cores in 2010 then 32 cores in 2011 so I think they know some thing we don't and thats how things are going to be in the future!

I wouldn't be surprised if they sell-out at newegg. People will probably think that the pricing is an error, lol.

All I've got to say is that I'm 8th in line at tankguys, so I'm not too worried.

I'll be happy with the e6600 for at least a year, instead of investing in a new CPU, I will invest in decent cooling, maybe, just maybe watercooling, but I really fear messing up the loops and destroying my whole PC...

I wouldn't worry about it: I think there's gonna be a lot of dissapointed Quad Core owners coming soon. They'll be sad when they can't hit over 3.2ghz because:

A) Motherboard-- They didn't upgrade motherboard with Quads so will probably face the same thing older quad core owners did. The inability to OC high.

B) Cooling-- A good portion of these people are still on Air. And the 3.4+ OC's are on Water or Phase. Dual Core owners are hitting 3.6's + easy, and will probably out perform Quad Core owners with slower clocks in games that do not utilize four cores.

That's just Audi talking, but I think that everyone heading to Kentsfield Neighborhood should be thinking about Motherboard and Cooling as well; even with G0 Stepping because we're not EXACTLY sure how G0 Retail is going to perform.

It's a wait-and-see deal.

With that said, I'm still on AIR and I'm first in line with the TankGuys.

I agree!!!

Can I ask why you are getting the Quad? Will you still run the E6600?

I will be, and, folding. Folding = NICE on quads. Plus with games coming down the pipeline with 4 threads it's not out of line to get one.
