Q6600 Sell Out?? - Page 4

This Rig originally had a Quad Core in it and I loved it. But, I do work that benefits GREATLY from a Quad Core setup.

http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...rendering.html

That's my CInema 4D thread. Quad Core @ 3.0Ghz wipes the floor with a Dual Core @ 3.6Ghz. And the Dual Core had the 1200mhz Ram Advantage.

It's not to discourage people, because there are benefits to Quad Core. Knitelife pointed out running windowed games on each core, or a program on each core. That's some good stuff! Folding will benefit greatly from Quad Core CPu's. Alan Wake and Crysis of course.

However, I think that the disappointment will mainly stem from people with high Dual Core OC's. 3.6ghz dropping to 3.2Ghz might be a bit of a downer for some. For others (like me) it won't matter.

Shop Wisely.

How come everyone is excited about the new CPU?

Each and everyone of you that got sucked up to the hype is acting like your current C2D can't do the job.

So what if it sells out for now. Not like Intel is making 100,000 chips only. They will make more. If you missed the boat, there are always next time. I just don't see why people are so worry that they won't get the Q6600. You're not going to die if you missed 1 shipment. There will be plenty

One post up, bud. Not EACH AND EVERYONE ONE OF US. I actually work on my computer, and can use the extra 20 minutes I save rendering to do another render... hence more money in my pocket.

There's nothing wrong with being concerned about the quantities for those who want to move to Quad Core. Everyone should just be informed ahead of time so that the forum isn't flooded with threads like:

OH NO I CAN"T GET OVER 2.8GHZ HELP!

Too bad it won't happen at that time and on newegg you may not get a G0 stepping..

All I know is a lot of people here at OCN are going to be selling their E6600's and such for dirt cheap (hopefully) and I will buy one and hopefully a MB + cooler..

I edit. But I am quite new at it since I've been working on set for five years and just now I finally started my own production company with my fiance. That means I am strapped for cash (BIG TIME!) and my computer is a very small portion of my investment.

I think if I had an E6600 if might put me over the edge to where Vegas 7.0 would play back 24fps 100% of the time. Currently if drops to 22fps every so often and while not a hughe issue if I don't keep my eye on the fps counter it could lead me to believe the clip is not a good choice.

Raylight is a program that allows me to view MXF files from my camera on Vegas, and it also does the job of splitting up the workload amongst up to 8 cores guaranteeing that I will have smooth playback from the day I drop that sucker in... no more worries, no more watching everything twice to it gets cached, and lightning fast renders... so a Q6600 WILL change my days and allow me to stay focused on my creative vision as opposed to my frame rate on playback... Yet I still have a considerable amount of guilt riding on this purchase...

Audi is right... what I am trying to say is that I am so happy with my E6300 because I can allready edit 1080p in a better but slower program than Final Cut! (bring it Audi, lol... that was a mix between personal preference and thrash talking).

So if you are a gamer then why in the world would you loose $50 (+!) on your sale of your E6300 and above?
If you have an E6600 and above I personally will recommend NOT to jump in this wagon unless:

_Alan Wake and Crysis are your games (are those out?)
_You fold and really care a lot about folding.
_You are doing it for benches.
_You **** gold bricks.

Natives are a long ways away... so are the software releases that would ease my life easier until Natives get here... And still, I know I don't NEED a Q6600... so people... please, listen to the advice on this thread and don't make a dumb decision.

Intel can spit out chips as fast as a rabbit can run. I am sure there will be plenty.
