Help XP Reinstall New Drivers Gigabyte

Thread Starter
Hi, I have recently re-installed XP on a old computer, I remember encountering the same problem a few years ago and I fixed it however I can't remember how and I cant fix it now. The problem is that the cd for the motherboard has been lost so I have tried locating the drivers on the internet. I am missing the "Ethernet Controller" drivers and hence can't go on the internet. The motherboard model is > GA 8IPE 1000 PRO 2. I have been here > http://www.gigabyte.com.lv/products/...1000_pro2.html
and downloaded the LAN drivers several times. I have tried all of them except for the Gigabyte with utility. Can somebody please tell me what Im doing wrong or point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Will

If it's an nVidia chipset, it will be really easy, just go:

if you can get into the bios, can you see the ethernet controller and what manufacturer it is?

You need to know the name of the motherboard, then simply go to www.gigabyte.com.tw and find the downloads for your motherboard.

you can use CPUZ to find out the exact motherboard model and number, then google it. I wouldnt recommend using the manufacturer's site for old drivers, I have found "some" to be for old sp of xp and such and not work very well.

download cpuz here, in the meantime, ill look around for the motherboard name you posted.

EDIT: is THIS what your board looks like?

EDIT2: try the drivers HERE

If you've tried all the Intel ones, it may be one of the Realtek NICs on your mobo.

Try this:
http://members.driverguide.com/drive...riverid=343119

You'll need to login to use it (free registration).

If you can't find the driver you need, always check driverguide.

EDIT: OK, looks like that model ONLY has Intel NIC. Any of those 4 drivers should work, unless there's a problem with the NIC itself. (Doesn't look like any real difference on the drivers from the .lv and the .tw sites... and they're the same on driverguide...)

Emmanuel I have found the motherboard as per first post ( http://www.gigabyte.com.lv/products/...1000_pro2.html)

and downloaded the drivers but they dont work.

Also there is a yellow exclamation mark next to "Ethernet Controller" in device manager.

Thanks for the help
