Elighten me please lol.

The 360's have a fail rate of 30%, because all of the little kiddies on Xbox Live get frustrated and throw their chocolate milk and cookies all over the poor box....

Its a constructive thought. However I thought that would be with the Wii as thats technically the more kiddy console .

the Wii itself is generally out of sight. theres a small device to be placed on top of the TV, but its generally the wiimotes that endure the beatings. most playstation owners are a really different kind of people from Xbox owners. they treat ALL their stuff differently. Xbox owners also break PC and TVs more often than the general PS owner. the reason for the different kinds of people behind the different consoles, is the different games that are released for them. PSs have lots of anime and other japanese games. the Xbox is more american style games. while the nintendos are party consoles.

Either he has some incredibly bad luck or he has been up to something dodgy. xD

Still wouldn't want to be the guy on the phone.

The only really problem the user could have caused consitantly would be the disc read errors. Sounds like a strain of bad luck.

When you think of the technology in the next gen consoles and the prices your paying, they have to cheap out on the parts. I know some of you will say they are taking a hit...maybe so, but obvisouly not enough of a hit, b/c 90% of the 360 failures come from heat and component deformation.

of course the wii will not have the same issues the 360/ps3 will have, it's 1/4 of the power and technology, so chanes of hardware failure due to excessive heat is minimal. I read somewhere the original xbox had more 'processing' power then the Wii (not to take anything away from the wii at all).

I'm on my second x360, and as someone mentioned it depends how you treat it. Maybe this guy in the article has it embedded in a closed wall unit with other recievers/dvd player/ ect and is covered in dust...we don't really know. But 12 consoles is a bit unrealistic, or someone has it out for him
Cheap out on the parts? To F#$%@ing hell with that. If I pay for the parts I sure as hell better be getting them. Furthermore, I know plenty of people on this forum alone that spend 200$ and upwards, sometimes more than the consoles, for Graphics cards. And if they get 2 DOA cards, you can bet the companies rep will be hit hard. It wouldn't be brushed off like a lot of people are brushing the 360 fail rate off.

Hell, we all know if the 8800's had a 30% chance fail rate, ATI would be walking all over nVidia with then 2900XT.

all 4 of my friends with one of these all got the ring of death (3 red lights or something stupid like that) - so they have all sent them off under warranty.

perhaps a sterotypical view but it seems to hold true

to say the least the PS3, wii, and 360 are targeted, or at least seem to be adopted by different demographics(i think i misspelled that, not sure tho).

I don't know about 30% but maybe 10%. to be honest though, any product in general should have a failure rate </= 1% not 10% or 30%. the main problem w/ these consoles seems to be overheating... this kid probably had it in a cabinet or something w/ little or no airflow. either that and/or they are just continually sending him back the same one but repaired, ie. jerryrigged. Microsoft should have put a little more into cooling R&D. it's really not that hard of a concept IMO tho.

perhaps i'm just ranting tho... lol

it seems all the 'little iddies' do get x360s -- since thats ALL I hear over xboxlive... little kids screaming and yelling. I played the wii at a local gamestore with a few older guys and we all had a blast with wii bowling and wii tennis.
