A Tale of 11 Broken Xbox 360s - Page 4

I believe part of the problem is when your first 360 breaks they send you a refurbished one. The refurbished ones and much more prone to breaking and thats probably why you hear stories of multiple returns.

I think a main problem is playing the 360 for so long especially due to its really bad cooling system and the fact that temps rise and yeah things break. If I left my PC on 24/7 and the case was closed and all I had on my parts was a heatsink and a few fans spread around things would break..

As much of a fan of the 360 I am, my 360 also died after just 7 months of blissful ownership.

The best buy replacement plan actually was worth it (but only for the 360!)

Xbox owners also break PC and TVs more often than the general PS owner. the reason for the different kinds of people behind the different consoles, is the different games that are released for them. PSs have lots of anime and other japanese games. the Xbox is more american style games. while the nintendos are party consoles.
Thats actually an interesting point. I know I look after my PS3 as if it was worth its weight in gold (it almost is) and use my PS2 as a bookend! With that said, I don't think this example is valid in most cases; I know someone who've saved for months to get a 360 and he treats it like I treat my PS3, only to be Red Ringed after 2 months. Similarly I know a store assistant at Currys Digital who has tell people how to look after their 360s and is on his 4th despite following his own advice.

The point that people abuse 360s simply because they're cheaper than a PS3 is pretty much invalid and I don't know if Halo fans are more likely to destroy equipment than Metal Gear fans. Might be interesting to see if 360 owners actually do have a higher rate of breakage with other electronics though...

Fixed your statement. Xbox sells about 1.75-1 in america, but in Asia the PS3 is 2-1. and in europe they are about even. So until you research don't make up random numbers. Though if you can prove me wrong go ahead otherwise all the other numbers i see are a slight gain either way...

I would think there is more to the story than just 11 360's breaking in a row. There must have been something else at play. Either that or there's the light chance this guy has the worst luck ever.

However, my buddy ended up opening his when it died and found that the cpu was right under the hardrive with minimal space for any kind of cooling. There were actual burn marks on the bottom of the hardrive from the cpu.

I havent heard of any issues with the Elites so far though. Than again, not many people have them. Another buddy of mine had a premium, and now has an Elite. He said even though articles have said otherwise, he says it stays cooler to the touch and it feels lighter. And he hasnt frozen up once with it yet. good news to me. Forkin over an extra 80$ for that seems a little much for something that should be standard though.
