where to put new fans

Thread Starter
Ok . . . so I have a p180 case, a e6600, BT VX and stock fans (well kind of stock, I took out the lower hdd chamber fan, to fit my psu, and put the fan as an intake fan inplace of the upper hdd case). I want to add some new fans and was thinking of getting three fm121s.
My question is where to put them? I was thinking one on the BT but don't know where to put the other two? Exhuast or intake? Should I put a new fan blowing on my gpu?
Also, do hdds overheat easily? As of now, I don't have any air blowing directly on my single hdd, do I need to buy a 80mm fan for my hdd?

HDD don't put out much heat, you should not need to cool it.

you dont need it, but it'll be happier if cooled. simply aiming a fan at them lowers their temp by 10-20 degrees, depending on the HDD.

Ok, so I have solved my hdd problem. Any suggestions on the rest of the fans? Should I use them as exhaust or intake? Should I get two or three?

if you have 2 or 4 fans (of similar fans, CFM-wise) you want to put half as intake, and the other half of them would be exhaust. if you happen to have 3 or 5 or so, put 1 more on exhaust than intake. a little negative pressure sucks in cold air.

Thanks guys. I am away from my computer now but I think when I checked the temp in bios my cpu was at 21c and my ambient case temp was at 40c so I think my case needs better airflow. The room temp was at 25c.
What is a good program to monitor temps without having to use the bios? Something that would monitor temps on most, if not all, components?
