ASUS P5K vs. GIGABYTE GA-P35C-DSR

So i've narrowed my choices down to two mobos, the two in the title.

My budget for a mobo is in the $150 range, so definitely not as high as the p5k deluxe.

Does anybody here have any hands on experience with either of these mobos? And can testify as to their overclocking capabilities?

I plan to pair a Q6600 and an 8800GTX with the mobo, with no intention of SLI (looks like i wouldnt have a choice anyways)

The P5K can hit over 600+ FSB. No need for the Gigabyte.

I've always had good luck with Asus boards, so I haven't gone back to anything since my switch.

Is that the rest of your build, i woudnt recomend 4gb of that RAM.

And yeah both mobos are good, just choose one which you like the best, personally i prefer ASUS .vvvv.

Openly Recommending the Asus here, though I own P35 DS3P.

Why are you choosing the P35C DS3R? Specifically for DDR2/DDR3 capability?

Which ram are you talking about, the ballistics that he has listed in his sig work great and oc very well. The only better choice would be getting the 8500 sets instead.

I'm a big Asus fan so I'm gonna recommend the Asus board. A few friends of mine have that exact Gigabyte board and to tell you the truth I have no issues with it. They're both solid choices, but again I'm gonna recommend the Asus.

i was told its just as good, if not better, than the g.skill hz's...which i originally had my eye set for

i only bought 4gb because i got a pretty good deal on the kit, only $185 total for 4gb ($140 if they take 2 rebates, but that's another story)

I have the p5k deluxe and with 4x1GB I can't overclock nearly as much. Window's won't even boot at 1200 5-5-5-15. With 2x1GB there is no problem running at that speed when tested with orthos. Anyone else have this problem?

It's a 4gb thing. Apparently, 4 Dimms stresses the Memory Controller. Which might be why 2 dimms OC better.
