Installing XP on a Vista Machine (Dual Boot question)

I have two hard drives. The main HD is a Raptor X that I run Vista off of, along with all applications. The second harddrive is purely for storage, ie: music, downloads, etc.

Now, I want to benchmark XP, so I am only looking to use it for a short period of time. My question is, if I install XP on my bigger storage harddrive will it:

1. Require me to format it?
2. Allow me to clean up the XP install without having to format after the uninstall? Ie: would I simple be erasing the "windows" folder and the like?
3. Do you think my benchmark scores will be effected a lot? IE: if I had decided to make XP my OS of choice for gaming, wouldn't it make sense to install it on the Raptor X for speed reasons?

... bah, i should probably stop being lazy and just dual boot on my Raptor X.

You will have to format the partition before you install, losing all your data on it, and as far as removing it goes...it is STRONGLY suggested that you format again, just to make sure you don't have any left over files and your HDD works optimally.

Anytime you install an OS, you must partition a portion or reformat a partition...

Anyway it is recommended that you install XP BEFORE you install Vista, just because vista's boot loader is pretty bad. And yes, Raptor's will give you faster load times in games...

Vista is supposedly supposed to give you better IQ vs. XP. However, XP will yield faster/better results.

I read that it is possible to "shrink" my Vista partition, add a second partition for XP and install on there. Then when i am done with XP and wish to uninstall it, I simply delete the XP partition and "extend" the Vista partition.

Would doing so have any negative effects?
