Won't use hardwire connecion..

Thread Starter
I have a laptop hardwired through a modem but it keeps trying to use dial-up and won't allow me to use the 100 mbs cable connection. The computer recognizes the connection because I can see it under my connecting in the windows xp control panel.

any ideas would be wonderful, thx!

My laptop does the same thing...or it did...make sure you delete all of your dial up connections, and if you are using a network router, set up your network and set it to default

lol, after reading my response now i am confused...

okay. go to control panel...click on internet options...then connections tab. Setup a connection, and if you are using a router, select set up a small office or home network...if it doesn't work after that, i have no clue man. Just make sure no dial up connections are set to default connection.
