Question on clone and extended desktop

I'm wanting to watch video on my second display, my TV. However I also have a flat panel monitor that looks it's best in 1400X1050 resolution.

It seems clone mode while allowing me to watch video on my TV forces me to have 1024X768 resolution on my monitor. This is bad.

Extended Desktop mode gives me 1400X1050 but the display on my TV is stuck showing only my desktop picture. No icons, no nothing.

Is there a way I can have 1400X1050 on my monitor, and still be able to watch video on my TV??

If you use extended desktop, just drag the player you are using across to your other display and it will display at that resolution. Maximize to full size and you should be set.
