Rig won't post!

Hey. I've been having trouble with my sig rig for a couple weeks now, and I can't figure out whats wrong with it. My rig won't post! No matter what I do, I cannot get this rig to do anything more than have it spin up my fans when I press the power button. I've tried a cmos clear, reseating ALL of the heatsinks (CPU, NB, GFX), a different video card, different HDDs, different RAM, tested the PSU with a multimeter, and I even ripped the mobo out of the system to see if there was any damage to it (Which there was none). I last thing I remember doing is trying to oc my xp-m a little farther, I think I was running 212x12.5 @ 1.675v w/ 57c full load the last time it was running. I took off the hsf to clean it up a little bit, and when I put it back on a couple days later (I got lazy) it stopped posting, no bios beeps, just fans spinning and HDDs starting up. Anyone have any ideas on whats wrong with my system? I'm thinking it's the CPU, maybe I pushed it too far.

It sound like fried your motherboard since you even change your video. The verdict is that your motherboard is dead or your CPU.

Have you tried a different PSU?

A couple of things maybe....

1. static discharge to mobo or cpu
2. check for missing cpu pins?
3. killed your processor

Hmm.. I think it's cpu bro. 1.6 volts is quite mild for a socket A overclock, but over time it could result in processor death. Your motherboard seems to be posting, are there any beeps? Have a speaker plugged in? Try that and tell us the beeps.

EDIT: By the way, the volcano was a pretty hefty heatsink to be placed on a cpu with no IHS, I had one and it chipped my core and broke my cpu, and I had the same results as you *fans spinning, nothing else*. That could be it, inspect your CPU for any telltale signs of a bad cpu. E.g. burn marks, chipped core, any physical change to the cpu.

That's what I'm thinking, bad CPU. I've been running 1.6+ vcore for as long as I can remember, I've had this rig for about 2 years now. I don't have another Skt A CPU or mobo to test my theory, though. Maybe it finally kicked the bucket. And no, there are no beeps coming from the mobo.

Odd. I'd try just a visual inspection then if you haven't already done so. Other than that there's really not much else you can do without a spare cpu or motherboard.

Just checked, and there doesn't seem to be any damage to the CPU. All the pins are good, and the core looks nice and shiny. I do remember, the first time I turned on my computer after reseating my hsf, that the speakers (Actual speakers, not the system bios speaker) made a really loud, weird, pulsing, buzzing/farting noise. I turned off my computer, put my nose up to the mobo (Instinct?) and I could smell that "hot electronics" smell (If anyone knows what I'm talking about). I didn't see any smoke or burn marks, though.

Well from most of my experiences, that real BURN smell comes from literally blowing something right then and there...like way too much voltage or something, but since you say you've had the volts up over time, it may have just burnt out over time leaving no real burn smell....
