noshibby saying screw it to windows, and going 100% Linux

Alright, so I'm sick of screwing with windows... I'm going to linux... (expect a ton of help threads lol...jk) Ok so first things first, I want the most 1337 looking distro ever, and if any of you have seen live free die hard you will know the type I speak of, the kid Mathew uses.

But basically it needs to look 1337, work good, and is just... good lol

then I need to somehow figure out how to get my raid working with it, do you need special RAID drivers for it like you do with windows?

so yeah

a) what wickid sick distro (I currently have Ubuntu, Slackware 11, UbuntuStudio 7.04 already burned to dvd)
b) do I need special raid drivers like I do for windows?

Just use XP, I had vista but went back due to my games losing alot of frames

I run Ubuntu on the side also. It's pretty cool

Lol, I don't want windows period.

I like Vista more than XP, and I didn't lose any frames when switching to vista

Honestly, if you've never used Linux before, you're in for a world of trouble. Linux is basically a huge hassle, and say bye bye to gaming for the most part on Linux.

Here's my advice.

Start off with Ubuntu - its flexible, user friendlly and media friendly.
And really. It will be easier for you to use it to learn some basics of linux (like pakage management )

THe thing with ubuntu though is that it has LOOOOADS of support, AND. TOOOOOOONNNES of free software - you can just dowload from WITHIN ubuntu!

keep winXP lowcal edition around for Gaming ONLY - and use ubuntu/whatever linux you choose, around for gaming

Are you sure you wanna go full linux? Setting up RAID for linux is gonna piss you off, I mean it.

I guess if you really wanna then start off with ubuntu, or if you don't care about difficulty then try kororaa linux. http://kororaa.org/static.php?page=documentation

Software is REALLY a plus with untu, I can tell you that.

BUT = just keep winXP low cal for GAMING ONNNNLLLY man. (its about 500MBs INSTALLED! )

Consider it winXP, with the speed of windows 2000, but still maintaining the gaming capabilities of XP (driver wise).

Have like a 20GB FAT partition (which BOTH linux and windoze can use)

BTW - I REALLY respect your move man.

As soon as I get my PC (hopefully) - I'm going to do the said!
