How much will improvement would I see?

Thread Starter
I am cooling my cpu with a Thermalright xp-90 and 90mm Delta fan, and it works fine but I have been doing some searching around to see if I can find a good heatsink that doesn't cost $65 but will bring me some good measureable difference in temps. Right now my load temps don't get over 45C at 1.6v but if that can improve on the cheap then I am interested.

I have been looking at FrostyTech.com but don't have any way to compare what I have to what they are testing. Anybody have a similar situation in which they could tell how much of a improvment a new cooler like the Ultra 90, Thermaltake Big Typhoon (non vx), Sycthe Ninja, or Zalman 9500 would bring?

ps- I've already lapped my xp 90 so no need to suggest trying that first.

Of those coolers you mention, I can only imagine that a lapped Big Typhoon would give you some improvement... marginally though. The others won
't touch your temps right now. That Thermalright is a very nice cooler. The Zalman is ok, but a little loud and you can't replace the fan easily, while the Ninja is an ok budget cooler, very nice for the price, but not in the same league.

Keep what you have, or save for water
