what is the stock multiplier for e6600 and what you people use for overclocks upto 3ghz?
if it is lets say 10 then 300*10=3000mhz and memory multiplier set to 2 and then 300*2 = 600mhz memory is't it?

Go for a e6420. They are hitting very good clocks right now. 3.6ghz at about 4.25-4.5 volts. The 6600's and 4300's are getting poor clocks ATM.

i am planning to buy asus p5b series (because they are the only available locally) can somebody tell me if they are good to go and what are the difference between p5b and p5b-deluxe???
The deluxe has the 'downward cpu multi option' as well as some other BIOS options that make it the better choice for high FSB OC's. The highest FSB I have hit on my board is 486mhz FSB, limited by my RAM only...not the mobo.

..Maybe yours, but as far as I know, the E6600 is the most widely used cpu on OCN...most 3.4ghz or better. The E4300 has also proven to OC well going into the 4ghz range for those of us lucky enough to own phase.

And that's exactly why I went to 1066.

Though, if you have HZ's you can do 500 easy. HZ's wil OC to 1000 without a problem, generally.

The HZ's from G.Skill and the CAS5 SuperTalent 800 and 1066 kits are currently the best values for RAM that can OC into the 1000+ range and still maintain tight timings and CAS4 below or @ 1000mhz.

So far I have been able to hit 1040mhz @ 2.3v, 4-4-4-12-4-20-8-9-9-9, with my G.Skill HZ's. I have not done any testing in CAS5 yet, as I want to remain at the highest speed on CAS4.

Also, the highest FSB I have been able to hit with the HZ's on my P5B-dlx, has been 496mhz. If that was a 9x multi, your e6600 would be at 4.4ghz.mmk?
