Since you have your system set to default, and the memory timings are normal, It has to be the memory controller. I had a similar problem with my EVGA board. The new one came in and I havent had a problem since! RMA through ASUS, they will cover you. Here is their support in the UK:

[Problem Description]
I have two RAM Sticks every time I put them in the dual channel configuration, my computer crashes in windows at random times all under10 minutes. However it works fine in when it is not set in dual channel mode. I wish to used dual channel, and when I bought a third RAM stick, the motherboard detected as dual channel, and it crashed in windows, so I am not able to use more than two ram sticks, or just two ram sticks in dual channel mode.

Can some1 tell me what this means and if i have done this already. i got this mail from asus today

For your problem, please change LDT frequency to 4X in BIOS, test again. Please refer to the manual 4-27.

If it is not helpful, please downgrade memory speed or add 0.1V memory voltage in BIOS to have a test.

That doesnt make any sense! Why would you downgrade the ram to run below specs? Thats like buying a sports car and then being told by the dealership to put a governor on it so you cant exceed 50mph!

Hi there,

I have similar problems with the same memory.

I have 2x1gb M2Y1G64TU8HB0B-25C elixir memory and Asus M2N8-VMX mobo...

At the beginning the mobo will not post with the two sticks...after a bios upgrade it will post...

Now i'm getting random and rare hangs up of the system...they are not so often but they are there...

is just sounds very similar problem with yours...me too i had advice from sky fellow from Asus...who told me to relax my memory's settings...

Hi, I was searching google for a solution to my problem:
I've got 3 memory sticks from corsair. (2 X 512MB and 1 X 1024, same CAS and freq)

I used memtest86 because I experienced crashes and lockups like you guys. Apparantly, I can't use both the 512 sticks AND the 1024, because it makes my system crash!
Both the 512 sticks and the 1024 work fine if i use them separately.

So there are 3 users with the P5N32 SLI who have problems with their ram...

My Computer still Crashes in Dual Channel Mode.
I sent my mobo and ram to the shop they said ram was faulty, and replaced ram, they were able to install windows on that ram and run over night tests so they say.
it comes bak to me, it works fine, i test it with Memtest 86, after a few hours after the test is compleet its freezes, i can test it with 3d mark 06 and play guild wars and battelfield 2142 for a few hours then it crashes, and now it crashes every 5 mins or more not even doing anything just have windows media player open or IE open, do nothing open just logged into windows and it crashes.

i called the shop again first they said well it could be a faulty ram AGAIN!
then he asked that is it our genric product i said yes, he said well its impossible that will work in dual channel mode because they are not identical, i said but the timings are the same, the model numbers r the same, the only diffrence is the serial number, he said well there r still components on that which are not the same. so it will not work in dual channel.

i asked how do i know if that IS the problem, in the future lets say i buy new ram which is a dual channel KIT, and if they dont work will u still take it bak? they said yes these products usaly have 2 year gurrantee.....

what he expalined could it be true or was he just trying to get rid of my complains?
