P5N32-SLI Premium, RAM on Dual Channel Crashes, Please Help - Page 4

He was not telling you the truth. There are many people out there on the forums with different brands of memory running dual channel. Its kind of like setting up a RAID with hard drives. You can use same spec'ed drives from different manufacturers without a problem, its just that it is easier to tell people to get the same type/brand to avoid any confusion or mistakes. But yeah, there is something wrong with the ram and/or board!

how can i find out?
sending it to them costs me $20 (£10) each time

rams have been replaced 2 time, and now i am just getting frustruted, do u think its the qulaity of the ram? (see ram info below)

they get it they test it find it faulty put in new ram it works, i get it back and after a while of use it crashes, he even chated bull**** about it could be windows "which does not reconise dual channel" which just got me even angrier as i am a novice but not stupid

It looks like your BIOS is up to date already. It is possible that the DIMM's of your motherboard aren't compatible with each other for dual channel if their SPD timeings are different.

I would just RMA the board or get a replacement. You should have no problem taking it to the store you purchased it from and getting a new boxed board.

*Memory Capacity : 1024 MB

Didnt you mention you had 2 or 3 sticks of RAM total...I have only seen the post above, mention the type of RAM..not the amount. I am assuming you have 2 x 512mb sticks..that were not purchased together, but are of the same brand...correct?

If so...are you absolutely sure, that you purchased a dual channel stick...because typically, dual channel RAM is only sold in kits. They must be matched pairs in order to operate together correctly.

Have you run MemTest, in DOS or Windows, yet? If not...do so. Google, 'MemTest'..D/L it and run for as long as you can...it will find any errors in your RAM very quickly, if the RAM is unstable.

I RMA'd some SuperTalent promos RAM..it would not pass memtest using the stock settings recommended from the manufacturer. Regardless of if the RAM is actually fine or not...if it will not surpass the dealer specs...then back it goes, no question.
