fans = noise. you're just complicating your system unnecessarily. Asus boards have a great design with the heatpipe and the extra heatsink over the VRMs. it actually uses your case's rear exhaust fan to cool the northbridge. i think you should put it back the way it was.
He is referring to the chipset cooler...which is ok stock. Nothing is ever ok at stock though when you are running the mobo on its breaking edge 24/7. Without a 40mm fan on my NB the temps go up to 50+c and start heating up the bottom of my cpu block..making cpu temps rise. Not to mention its hard to get to 475mhz FSB without having good temps on the NB..after all it is running around 2.3ghz at that speed and cpu multi.
A 40mm isnt even audible over the 100+cfm blowers on my rad...so who cares?
