you are absolutely crazy. you must know that. first of all, he is running nowhere near his motherboard's breaking edge. i'm at 400 FSB and my northbridge NEVER gets more than a couple degrees over my room's ambient temp. it's a great design.

second, stock on that P5K Deluxe motherboard is this:

like i said, i would just put it back the way it came. stock isn't always bad, especially when "stock" is top of the line.

Since you started it...

You misunderstood completely, noob! Dont think you know everything!

I wasnt even referring to HIS mobo..I was talking about mine! You might have picked that up if you understood the post->

Quote:
Without a 40mm fan on my NB the temps go up to 50+c and start heating up the bottom of my cpu block..making cpu temps rise. Not to mention its hard to get to 475mhz FSB without having good temps on the NB..after all it is running around 2.3ghz at that speed and cpu multi.
I was pointing out to him that Chipset cooling is essential when going to the edge of performance capabilities. So yes...I am crazy..but not stupid.

So wow..you at 400fsb and no issues..big deal, your not even pushing your mobo a little. So I am not surprised you dont have a heat issue..

and uhh..

Stock + a fan = better than stock..or are you gonna call me names for suggesting that too?
I never said that the stock solution wasnt up to par...merely that the stock cooler is not enough for an extreme OC on the mobo..and that putting a fan on the stock chipset cooler [ as i do on all my NB's ] would better illustrate the efficiency of the stock cooling setup over the nicely lapped Enzo blocks, this fine gentleman spent his time and $$ on.

If you really want to see some NB temps..lower your cpu multi to 6x and raise your FSB to 500mhz..the 1.5v you need to run the NB at the ~2.7ghz speed will generate far more than just a few degrees. Not to mention, I seriously doubt you could stabilize that OC without having some air on the NB...nuff said. Schools out.

take a pill. settle down. i was talking about his computer, not yours. i don't care what you do with your computer. HE is running an E6600 @ 3.2. i recommended HE go back to stock cooling instead of installing extra fans just for a 2 degree drop.

exactly. and neither is Audi. which is why i said what i said. the fact that you automatically assume all posts are directed toward you is disturbing.

You didnt just add your 2cents..you started your post by insulting another member..that will always get things off on the wrong 'foot'.

Sorry, I thought this was OCN, where we strive for the ultimate OC...I was making a suggestion to actively cool the NB in pursuit of higher clock speeds. If he was already changing out the stock solution..then maybe he plans on OC'ing further than he is currently...either way..cooler is better. Period.

And yes..school..no it wasnt a joke. Why the hell would he change back to stock, when he already spent $$ on the coolers and its obviously working better? Why are you so against better temps? Its not like he spent your $$...so if its working better..then...

would you buy a brand new Mercedes and rip out the stereo just so you could have something custom? i wouldn't. change for the sake of change isn't necessarily good.

and this is OCN where i overclock for more speed - not because i want to have to buy a new motherboard every 6 months. most of the people on this forum have no interest in breaking records. overclocking for the average person is a way of saving money, not setting the world on fire.

as far as me "calling you names..." come on, man. i know you can't see the look on my face when i type, but i assumed my tone would come through. it was just a little sarcasm to brighten your day. i don't actually think you're crazy.

My ASUS board has a plain old aluminum square but my NB sits at like 34 C.

Holy crap. I thought Asus's cooling sucked so I was going to get a Bad Axe 2 over a P5K-Delxue. At 400FSB can anybody tell me their NB and SB temps? I think I'll switch my Wish List (P5K > Bad Axe). Maybe a reseat with Arctic Silver 5 will help temps; Audi. I know Asus used to do a horrid job of applying thermal paste. They would put way to much paste and it was low quality.
