1900xt512 or 1950xt256 - Page 2

The extra vram really has no advantage. Just like when an X1950XT 256 is oc'ed to X1950XTX 512 speeds it performs ALIKE, with stock clocks it's no more than 10% slower, usually around the 3% range. High-res doesn't make a big difference, oc the X1950XT and it will outperform an X1900XTX no matter the VRAM.

There's a reason my 1900 has the highest verified clocks of the 19XX series cards on OCN.

There IS an X1900XT 256MB and an X1900XT 512MB.

X1900XTX 512MB > X1950XT

The "extra speed" of the X1950XT is nothing. The fact that it uses GDDR4 and has fast memory doesn't help it. The GDDR3 at 1550mhz on the XTX beats out the 1800mhz GDDR4 ram. It's like any ram. The GDDR4 is faster but the latency is higher.

The X1900XTX falls 1-5 FPS short of the X1950XTX in most tests. The GDDR4 is at 2000mhz on the X1950XTX and it barely helps.

I never mentioned nothing about the X1900's oc'ing ability or anything of that matter. I simply stated that the extra vram on the X1900XT does not help it beat the X1950XT. I'm not sure about it's oc'ing ability but I do know that I stock the X1950XT beats it.

We are talking about XT's, not XTX's.

Well an X1900XT 512MB is basically an XTX with a slight downclock.

To answer the question: Get the X1900XT 512MB and OC it.

Acually the 1950XT series use GDDR3, and I checked Vs default latency's of my friends x1900, and they were lower on my 1950. However, like you said, memory speed doesn't seem to be much of an issue with these cards anyways.

I was thinking X1950XTX and I didn't even check to make sure. I don't believe that the memory latency is LOWER on the X1950XT because that doesn't make any sense. I am 100% sure that an X1900XTX beats and X1950XT because I've already done the testing so that would be divine intervention if the X1950XT had lower latencies.
