Okay, someone tell me...Can i just go to ATI.com and download the gfx driver for my Radeon 9700 laptop AGP card, or do i have to get a custom driver from DELL? The reason is ask is because i can't get my friend to play CS:S because it keeps closing and saying the gfx driver is out of date....anyone know if i can just get the newest driver off ati.com??? Thanks in advance!!

okay, because one time i thought i heard that you had to download a custom driver, but now that i know more about computers, i think that sounds wierd...and this driver is like v 6.2 and they have like 7.2 or more on ati now, lmao

Well, when i went to ati's site i found the link to get the ati radeon mobility gpu driver....clicked on my gpu, the 9700, downloaded the driver...and when i went to install it, said couldn't find this gpu and exited, so i am guessing i am stuck with this old unoptimized version 6.2 of the DELL ATI Radeon 9700 driver from way back in 2005.

I think this is the reason that CS:S keeps having random lockups. When i am in an online or LAN multiplayer, when the maps change, the load screem thing comes up, and gets about 3/4 of the load bars filled up, then it just stops loading, and i have to either hold the power button down for a shutdown or repetitively press ctrl alt del, but the ctrl alt del only works part of the time...anybody got any ideas??
