Pick a P35 Mobo!

Im hunting around for the best overclocker for the best price...i would like to keep it to a budget, but overclocking is a higher priority

my rig is in my sig below

im set on the ga-p35-ds3r right now, but only because it's the cheapest, i don't plan to ever use crossfire/sli, so i crossed out the majority of the boards that have the 2xpcie16 slots, and i also probably wont upgrade to ddr3 until i build a new rig...

so anyways, what do you recommend for the best overclock with a q6600?

P5B-Deluxe for a core 2 duo. I don't know how well it would do for a quad-core.

the p35 based mobos are supposed to be much better at overclocking the quad cores

a quad core on anything but a p35/x38 chipset is EXTREMELY lucky to see clocks 3.0+ (with air cooling, of course )

That GIGABYTE should do an excellent job, so yes, the Q6600 would go right along with it.

If in a budget you are, the GIGABYTE MoBo is excellent for that, they don't include a lot of the fancy stuff but the board's quality is pretty good.

Just keep the temps down and you'll see that Q6600 fly.

But if money is no object? The P5K-Deluxe or wait for the X38 chipset.

Ask Audi, he's got experience with the Quad on a P35-DS3.

He seemed a little disappointed with the results. Anyway, look at this thread
