But the thing is, you say a lot can change in two weeks.... what, the drivers are getting worse?? Because that article
you point to is two weeks OLDER (May 30 opposed to June 13) than the article I
posted showing the GTS 320MB being faster than the 2900XT.....
Methinks someone is starting to feel a wee bit inadequate in the ePenis department now. Don't worry, your 8800 GTX will still do just fine, even if it doesn't stay on top of the heap in everything, anymore.
This kind of massive change in performance due to driver updates is par for the course for ATI, and always has been. ATI has always made exceptional hardware, their weak point has historically been driver support (ask any Linux fanatic...). As usual, ATI (nay, AMD now) has gotten their hardware to market long before their drivers came of age.
I predicted a long time ago that when the 2900 series was released, it would appear to be a dog compared to what it was competing with, but would rebound within a few months of release due to driver changes. Same thing happened with the X1900 series, just like the same thing happened when the X800/850's were all shiny and new.
