The Cat 7.6s are less than a week old, so those tests no longer matter. Tests using the 7.6s are really the only ones that matter

Exactally my point a couple of weeks ago Nivdia was better, but every driver update and ATI excels even more.

Yes, I read it. I just figured it would be fair to have an opposing point of view. Some tests are going to favor one card while others might favor a different one.

But the thing is, you say a lot can change in two weeks.... what, the drivers are getting worse?? Because that article you point to is two weeks OLDER (May 30 opposed to June 13) than the article I posted showing the GTS 320MB being faster than the 2900XT.....

Methinks someone is starting to feel a wee bit inadequate in the ePenis department now. Don't worry, your 8800 GTX will still do just fine, even if it doesn't stay on top of the heap in everything, anymore.

This kind of massive change in performance due to driver updates is par for the course for ATI, and always has been. ATI has always made exceptional hardware, their weak point has historically been driver support (ask any Linux fanatic...). As usual, ATI (nay, AMD now) has gotten their hardware to market long before their drivers came of age.

I predicted a long time ago that when the 2900 series was released, it would appear to be a dog compared to what it was competing with, but would rebound within a few months of release due to driver changes. Same thing happened with the X1900 series, just like the same thing happened when the X800/850's were all shiny and new.

Give me a break. Childish comments like this just make you look stupid. I wasn't arguing about the GTX at all. I was showing that the GTS still beats the 2900XT using real data from a reliable source.

The only thing you accomplish by saying things like that is make you seem inadequate in the real brain department. You argued against real data by giving your simple opinion.... Fail.

Yeah, I was just trying to show that some tests show the 2900XT being the victor, and some show the 8800GTS as the winner. From the varying reviews, I think it might be more or less toss-up right now.

You mean by using outdated data from a reliable source using outdated drivers.

As far as my 'simple opinions' are concerned, The FACTS are that historically, whenever ATI has released a new generation of GPU, the drivers were very immature. Hell, the X1900 series barely ran at all with the release drivers, and really didn't start to come into it's own until about the third driver update post-release. I bought one the third day it was available, so I should know.

The ATI 2900 series has the architecture to beat the 8800 series, the only things holding it back is optimized drivers, and a whole lot of heat.

Wow, 2 weeks old (like I stated - it's 2 weeks NEWER than the article showing the 2900XT winning) is OLD???

And somehow you are going to base the HD2900XT's future upon former incidences from different cards? You cannot tell the future. And trying to, based on the history of something else, makes you look even more foolish.

Sure you may eventually be right. Until then.... stop guessing. For your own good.
