GTS is almost as good.

EITHER WAY: This card is 8 months late and doesn't beat the nvidia by much which makes me pist.
Well, if theres another boost in performance from drivers, your beloved nVidia will, my friend, get smashed.

Oh no! The flame wars may begin....actually I think most of the flamers shut up because the 2900XT is starting to show some PWNage after every driver release...

Those numbers on shader units are definitely not directly comparable since the two card have such different architectures. Those numbers are very misleading.

The one post of a review in this article is the only one I've seen where a 8800GTS 640. I just built a box for a friend that's very similar to mine, and he's running an 8800GTS640, and my new 2900XT seems to be out performing it. I also paid 50 bucks less.

I hope it does. Seriously, I am all for it. After 8 months late, maybe more, the drivers at release were still "babies."

I need this card to whoop my ass. Because if it doesn't I will hate ATi. How could they not? They had an extra 8MONTHS!!

Now, since it kicks me but not by much and for the price difference 640 is still worth it. When this boost in performance happens, drop me a PM.
