F.E.A.R. is unbelievably choppy...

Thread Starter
I installed F.E.A.R. on my new rig and i set my settings (4x aa/af) and I ran the test.

I got a 20 FPS MAX! Of course this is not right so I ran it again and this time got a 300 FPS MAX. I thought this was okay so i ran the game.

It runs so choppy I cant even play the game without getting a headache. So just for ****s and giggles i ran the test at ALL minimum no aa and trilinnear filtering and i still got a 15-20 FPS MAX.

I have tried everything i can think of and its still insanely choppy. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

System is in my sig.

Use the most recent patch and experiment with drivers.

Try different drivers, I think it's a known issue.

Have you touched your RAM's timings? Read this, http://www.overclock.net/intel-memor...major-lag.html

Try different drivers like grunny have said and try reducing your CPU overclock to around 2.8Ghz or so. You may be lacking vcore.

I have even tried at the stock CPU settings, still choppy.

EDIT:: every other single game runs fine. CS:S 200+ FPS, WoW 75 FPS constant.

I have changed my RAM timings. When i get home ill set RAM back to stock and try again.

I have heard that there is a problem with f.e.a.r and xfire running at the same time (on vista) ... if you have xfire running, thats probably your problem...

I do not use xfire.

E6400 is my processor.

Are you running vista? I have noticed with vista that quite a few games slow down and being virtually unplayable for example Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter when I installed it on Vista was completely unplayable, I was lucky to get 15fps, maybe it's the same with vista. Try installing xp and install it under xp and see if that is the case.
