I just picked up a brand new laptop today pre-loaded with Vista home premium and so far I absolutely love it. This is literally the first time I've ever seen Vista in person, partly due to all of the naysaying that I've heard going on I've held off from putting it onto my desktop system. Honestly I don't really know what everyone is crying about...

I've spent the whole evening going through and getting acclimated to it, and IMO everything is much better looking, much more intuitive, and just overall better than XP... people are expecting the operational smoothness of OSX with the broad variety of applications available for windows, all rolled into one gold plated burrito. Then when they can't have their cake and eat it too they get pissed at MS? Of couse there are going to be hiccups and incompatibilities... heck it hasn't been out barely half a year!

mmm, gold plated burrito. i built a computer for a friend and he insisted on Vista. after two weeks of him calling me with various BSODs and certain programs crashing and "compatability mode" workarounds and TeamSpeak not working while he was in-game and... ugh. i finally just told him he was on his own. i have no interest in messing with it anymore. i know i will eventually have to "upgrade" to Vista myself and i'm not looking forward to it. hopefully all you pioneers help MS fix all this stuff before i make the transition

HAHA yeah. My Gentoo "ultimate" has some pretty cool features, like Opengl Compositing for the desktop, and a 3d spinning cube, and wobbly windows, and expo, and such...

Unfortunately that cost me a LOT.

I mean a CDR to put the kernel and installer on. That was like 18 cents.
