so if that 320 is just like my 245 watt pelt? If thats the case mines should be able to handle an e6600 in core 2 duo fine. I mean ira-k has a quad oc'ed and his temps are awsome imo (-2 to 13 at load).
The thing is i want to keep my system compact. I have now a 240 black ice extreme rad outside the case but attached to it with a rad box, and the 120 inside. if i add a 423 pelt to the mix i would need a much bigger rad in my opinion, and i just dont want to go that route.
here is a video i made a few months ago of my system. mind you im adding the 120 swiftech rad and the gpu and northbridge blocks to it.

Your talking about he dual range rating of the Pelt...The first # is calculated with a hot side temp of 27C and the second higher # is calculated with a hot side temp of 50C...As far as I know all the Pelts are rated like that...The 320W is still the highest wattage one that you can get that is 50x50mm and I think he was wanting to use a standard CPU block so thats the largest......Sucks but that is the common practice of Pelt manufacturers..

Take a look at the under-volting charts on page 2 they go into detail about it...Check out the dual range on the big 437W on page one...If you look at the 226W 15V Pelt at 12V its only good for 140.9W and the 320W at 12V is good for 235W....

...TEC undervolting charts

EDIT: Those temp's I gave you are from a single core Opteron...Take a look at the under-volting charts and you may get an idea of the actual wattage when they are run under-volted...Which everyone does because they are really inefficient...

oooh ok but still can i expect temps in at least 0-low teens with 140.9 watt pelt (12v 245) on and e6600 oced to lest say 3.4 (from 2.4)

Im starting to think that staying with just water is not a bad idea. The costs (higher ambient temp, higher electric bill, condensation) is starting to out-weitgh the benefits (possible higher overclock, longer life of processor) any ways by next year ill probably upgrade the cpu.

Man I just don't know if it would be worth it or not...I can barely keep this Opty in the low teens @235W with 12V at full load..If you can find someone with your rig and a pelt that size you could get abetter idea of what your temp's would be..I've been able to push my OC higher then I ever have before I never had one over 3100mhz before and I've hit over 3200 now...

To be truthful if I had it to do over again I would of gone with the 437W Pelt to start with..I don't think I would even suggest to someone to use a 320W Pelt to just get the 437W to start with..

the 437 would be smart for any CPU. even if you dont need that much, the more you can undervolt it the more effective it becomes, which results in a lower heat dump in your loop.

Not quite.... The cost of the special waterblock to accommodate the 62x62mm TEC plus the cost of running it.... it would be better off getting just a $300-500 custom phase unit for the CPU.

Undervolting does not make it more effective. It makes it more efficient.

ok so fro now the axillary psu i got ill probably keep to use with the 8800 gtx igot. and the pelt is just going to hait. in the future what ill do is buy the
-437 w pelt, ~dont know how much
-buy a 1200 watt paower supply,~300
-and a bigger case -lian li~200
-and a 360 black ice extrem rad-80 bucks
-a bigger cpu water block. dont know how or whre to get it?
-another mcp655 pump~85
-and upgrade my cpu and mobo~1000.

All together ill have:
-1x240 black ice extremes, 1x360 black ice extreme and 1x120swiftech radiator
-a 437watt pelp for the cpu. and 245 watt pelt for the gpu
-1520 watts of total computer power (1200+320watts)
-a big lian-li case to somehow fit it all.
-probably get another mcp655 pump to help the one i already have
-and probably a qx6700 processor.

Once i save enogh to get something like this ill do it. One big loop like that shlould be able to keep the quad core and 8800 gtx nice and cool for some nice overclocking.

437w ($30).... 1200w PSU ($300).... Rad ($80)... Custom Waterblock ($200)... another pump ($85).. That's $715.

Again, you can get a phase unit that cost less that will get 10-20C lower temperatures while using 50% less power.

yea phase sounds good in that sense, but i have not found a phase unit for that price unless u get it custum built. Let me know if you do.
2nd like i said before i like keeping my systems compact. no big sideby unit or anything, just the case by itself and all the components inside. is there a way to do that with a phase unit? again if there please inform me.
