I thought that it won't let you install that one on another motherboard or something like that. I don't want to have to buy another copy when I upgrade my system again in a year or two.

I believe it's perfectly legitimate to call them if you replace a mobo or something, as long as you are using it only one PC. They'll take care of it for you. And that's only if you reformat or get completely new hard drives anyway.

Yea that's what I meant, get a new mobo and reformat. Well I guess I'll end up emailing the man before I buy it, as I don't want a big hassle. I have a buddy that went to hell and back to install the upgrade of Vista, and he had to yell at the operator at MS because he couldn't install the OS (we do tech support and he's Net+, A+ cert, so no noob mind you.)
He eventually had to install Windows 2K and upgrade from there......wow. I don't never really went into depth why, but I found that a bit disconcerting.

Well I'm getting Ultimate for free, I'm not buying it. So based on all your comments I think I'll go ahead and install it as soon as I get myself another hard drive. I will have around $1200 by august, but I need a car (I'm 15), and I don't really want to upgrade my computer unless it's necessary, because currently I can play any game I have maxed out. Thanks everyone

Hey that's cool man, I didn't have a PC of my own at your age. Go for the car, and that way you can get a job. This will lead to some money blowing frenzy that is the PC enthusiast world.

Running Vista in 512MB of RAM will yield poor results. In fact, I wouldn't recommend any less than 2GB if you plan to be a power user. The only games that suffer on Vista for me are OpenGL games such as Doom 3.

Did anyone receive their Vista yet? If so how long was the wait?

I just tryed skype on vista it works well. I like vista myself the aero is cool. It's much faster then xp to me (very noticably so you click and your there). I have had less crashes with games that had problems with xp (NFS:CARBON most notably).Desktop scaling with nvidia drivers still a nogo for me though. Nvidias fault not vista as it doesn't work in xp either. Problems with external firewire dvd drive showing up and then disappearing (could be my added on pci card giving the problem). Regardless of the problems though (which are minor) I still think its a very stable os (32 bit version of Ultimate is what I have). I say try it out.
