Lol. Well I was really hyped up but then time started to drag on and even though it will be a great games its now just '' another game '' to me. I know there trying to make the game supertastic in various different ways but there making the public wait to long.

Words mean things:

Hype. n. Excessive publicity, usually associated with exaggerated or extravagant claims, often deliberately misleading.

The only "hype" I see is a bunch of video game fans drooling to get this game securely esconced on their hard drive and occasional articles from the game-related press. I haven't seen any traditional adverts for Crysis, nor have I heard any outlandish claims.

I think the actual situation is a bunch of excited and excitable people. And the game is not taking too long. It's not like it's vaporware; what do want, a half-baked game? They'll release it in the fall or winter. Hold onto your panties for a little longer.

Virtually all games come out later than we want them to. It's not as if it has been held back for a long time.

I guess it's reasonable, some people just don't like waiting for extended periods. However I think there is good delays and bad delays, the good is when they're actually improving the product and making it into something amazing, bad delay for example ATI's new card (braces for flame).

Words can mean multiple things and in this case hype is being used correctly, just not with the definition you gave.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/hype

(2) hype (n) to create interest in by flamboyant or dramatic methods; promote or publicize showily: a promoter who knows how to hype a prizefight.

I would say that this definition definitely fits the bill for Crytek's promoting of Crysis. They are certainly being dramatic in saying how revolutionary Crysis is going to be, but at this point we can't tell to what extent it will be true.

So we wait.

As long as you don't sit refreshing Crysis pages, you should have plenty to occupy your time until they release a beta/demo.

Being a beta doesn't mean it will be released - it may get leaked, but the alpha had the same chance of being leaked and wasn't

What's worse is that this appears to be the gold standard that other developers will release by.

Remember when Crysis was said to be delayed to Q3 in the Feb/Mar timeframe?

Not two days later, both Quake Wars and Ep.2 (Including Team Fortress 2) announced their delays as well.

Everyone is afraid to release, and wants as much time to develop and finish bugs as possible, because they all know they will be competing with a AAA contender like Crysis. Therefore, it ******* the whole market.
