you'll need to test how far your 6400 goes on air cooling, this would be the cheapest..
Try at least to reach 3.6, but that is really high on a 6400.
Try and thermalright 120 extreme with two 90+CFM 120mm fans.

I get 17362 with this specs
e6600 at 3.9 (1734 fsb, 9x multi)
ram at 867 4-3-3-3-7 1t timings
gtx sli real clocks 648/1566/1026 (set gpu on atitool to 657)

Or you could just cheat like these guys and get 19k. Link

First off, the way you are putting it makes it sound like you only want high scores to show off the fact that you have that score. Like all you are interested in is getting that score. Second, why buy a 8600 first to go 8800GTX in SLI only a few months later, seems a bit like wasting money to me.

has nothing to do with bragging rights, I just need to figure out the most cost effective way to get around that level of performance. I am building PCs for friends.
