Good time to buy?

Thread Starter
So i'm wondering, since it's time for me to upgrade, if i should get an 8800gts 320/640 now or wait till it gets cheaper...
My whole upgrade schedule is waiting on the videocard. I decided that if I want to upgrade, I'll upgrade all at once.. I'm keeping my c2d, getting a 680i board, and new gskills, new psu, and selling my 7600gt. There aren't very many games right now that my 7600gt can't handle at all so I'm not rushing to get one.
I was also thinking that if my gpu can't handle crysis then i'll have to get the gts .

So do you guys think its a good idea to buy now or later.

I would personally hold off on getting any of the DX10 cards if I were in your position. They've yet to prove useful on the DX10 demos.

Just wait until they mature.

bad time to buy, well not that bad but..

so much new hardware coming out very soon, very promising increases in performance.

btw to previous comment, no solid proof that current dx10 cards perform poorly on native dx10 titles.

Alright so waiting till Crysis or CoD4 comes out is a good idea then?

Dam, I can't wait to get my hands on them. hehe
I was first planning to see the benchies for the 8800gts on Crysis. I guess i will continue to wait for that then.

By the time Crysis and UT 2007 and the like come out, there will probably be HD 2950XTXs and 8900GTXs that will blow the current cards away, or possibly even the HD 3900XT and 9800GTX. DX10 is a waste of money, IMHO, accept for the great DX9 performance they deliver. But guess what. An x1950XTX, which is under $350 on the egg, beats the 8800GTX in some benchmarks for DX9, and beats the GTSs in almost every benchmarks.

but when you open up a GTX and see it for the first time, it takes your breath away. you can see performance written all over it
