why cant i get my temps right????

Thread Starter
my temps with stock cooling used to always be around the 50-52c at idle, and pushing around 60c at load. i bought a tuniq tower and thought everything would cool a lot more. my first installation my idles were about 32c briefly before my computer crashed (long story, there was a short between hte back plate and the back of my mobo).

i've re-sat the damn thing about 5 times now and i cant seem to get my idles below 42c. my neatest application of AS5 didnt get tested cos i forgot to put down the locking bar thing over the CPU, and i cant keep retrying cos im running out of AS5 and lint free cloth. i wanted to try Audi's pimped AS5 thing (with a .7mm mechanical pencil top over the AS5 but i couldnt find one anywhere).

one of the reasons that i might be having trouble is because hte Tuniq and the GA-965P-S3 arent that compatible,i to grind down one bit of the bracket thats you use for AM2, and a bit of the bar because there is a capacitor in hte way so it makes seating it quite difficult but it think i've got it down by now.

why the hell cant i get lower temps??? i know my ambient is high but its nowhere near 40c.

make sure the heat pipes on the heatsink are up, (mount heatsink so they are up, or at least verticle. DO not put them pointing down. Try that, gave me 15c differences!

I think what he is saying is mount the HS so that the fan is blowing towards your rear exhaust on your case rather than blowing straight down.
