um... as a linux user... i can tell you that i can play every single game you can play on windows... on linux...

yeah, you have to use some tricks for cheap hardware that doesn't have any support.. but short of that... everything works...

Just like having your own pilot's license means that you don't have to undress for a gloried security guard with a TSA patch on his arm, Linux means that you don't have to call anybody to be authorized to use the OS.
no need to preach to the choir... i was just commenting that rather then taking care of your problem you just gave up...

i don't see that as a very good reason to switch... because you don't want to make a phone call...

You don't have to make a phone call with linux... this is true... but at the same time... there isn't a linux distro out there that's trying to combat a MASSIVE piracy problem of it's products...

this is why you have to Activate your copy of windows... and the WGA is not Activation... hardware changes change the system hash... and the system hash is on file with MS... and when enough different systems activate the same CD-key a red flag goes off... and you get to make the phone call... which takes a whopping 6 minutes...

Windows isn't inferior because they are trying to protect their product... nor is it inferior because it's not free...

I use linux because it's powerful, clean, and has a MASSIVE amount of support... it's also stable, and rather secure out of the box (once updated)

There's really no reason to not use linux, other then the fact that Windows is a little easier for the novice user... but most distros address this and try to make installation and configuration as easy and painless as possible...

you can game on linux using cedaga. ive used it and played guild wars very well and some other games. it seemed to do a very good job. but, i prefer linux for when i'm working, i don't enjoy using windows for web dev. yea, dreamweaver is nice and fireworks is cool and photoshop is great but. i like my gedit. amp development is way easier on linux (to me). and the fact that most linux cost billions of times less than windows is a plus.
