"Scrambler and webber ships" as you so called them are often refered to as "Tacklers"... Just a little wisdom there for you

Some other phrases you will hear often;

Gank / Ganked = Ganking someone is what you call it when you go OTT and totally annihilate someone... ie. Battleship instapops a frigate, 10 vs 1, etc..

Tank = Tanking is your ability to soak up damage. You can either tank armor or sheilds. Sheilds can be tanked either passively (by setting up so your natuaral recharge rate is very high) or actively with the use of a sheild booster.

Align = When flying in a gang, you want to make sure you all warp at the same time... to do this you "align". double click in space near the direction of the appropriate stargate / asterid belt / other celestial objecy. Once your all at full speed and aligned, hit "warp gang to" and you'll all warp at exactly the same time / speed.

the reason for aligning is that if you drop out of warps in dribs and drabs, your very easy to pick off... whereas if you drop out onto your enemy in one huge blob, it can oftend cause a few seconds of mayhem (what i like to call the "**** GUYZ, **** ****!!!" effect).

Anyways...

Tacklers often get popped because they are so weak and unable to take the damage... But they are pretty much NEVER called primary target, for the same reason... By the time a couple of people have locked and fired, the target will be down before the rest of the gang even gets a target lock! The most common ships to be called primary are EW (electronic warfare) ships, and other ships often in order of which is the greatest threat, or of greatest value. However, some ships are sometimes so well tanked, they are often never called primary, because they take so long to destroy, you gang will be dead by the time they go down... A good examlple of this would be any passively tanked caldari ship, like the Drake... Can tank huge DPS and is uneffected by nos...

I once saw a passive ferox tank a gang of about 30 people for about 30 seconds... 30 seconds isnt long, but against that many enemies? he should have died instantly!

Rant over! heh.

Yeah, I knew some of that, vocabulary slipped my mind for today lol

I'll probably be a tackler b/c of my low SP

I lost my first ship today! It was Atron... was fighting in Deadspace and it wouldn't warp out, had about 8 drones on me, alvi and apis... and boom, popped atron!

How do you make enougth isk in low sec, to cover the amount of ships one could expect to lose and still make a profit.

Ratting? Mission running?

Ratting I'm pretty sure, the rats out there go for like 1.5m a pop for the good ones, and like 600k-800k for the regular ones, or so I hear from my corpmates that are in 00 space.

it depends what you see as low sec: 0.0 or everything <0.5?
It is tbh safe in 0.0, about as safe as empire...
That is, if you are in an alliance, and stay in your own perimeter. You can gain money in several ways: Mining (100 mil/hour if you have a good belt and a Hulk) Ratting (Tripple 1.8 mil spawns with some luck and farming) Cosmos (if you are lucky, faction loot will be dropped, making you rich in a short time, if the faction loot is any good ofc) PvP (yes indeed, pvp, loot dropped by PvP'ers tends to be valuable, and ganking ratters with their T2 setups pwns to ) and piracy, bribing and stuff, did that with Nox for a while, didn't make me rich, but not poor neither.

I find the opinion "MMO's require no skill" kind of funny.

Someone who lacks patience would say something like this. I think that there might be some MMO's that require only a little skill, but for the most part, I think there is a respectable amount of skill required to play and enjoy an MMO, and even more skill to be good. Character development and building are not as simple as "run around and shoot everything"...(but I do agree that running around and shooting everything and being good at it does take skill)

I just think it's funny when someone says that a game that is constantly evolving takes no skill.

I think Guild Wars is one of the most skillful MMO's I've played. Hundreds of millions of combinations of skills/attributes/equipment. Maybe even more combinations... there are tons of more skills than WoW has, and it is harder because you don't have a 40 man raid to back you up... you have up to 8(or 6?) in a party, 12 in Alliance battles with 3 groups of 4 so meh, not much to back you up if you fall.

Isk making in 0.0 is quite different to empire...

In high-sec, ratting will earn you virtually nothing, and mining won't earn you much either... Mission running on the other hand, (esp. L4 missions) can earn you LOADS of isk if you know what your doing.

But yeah, in 0.0 the best way to make isk is either mining and then producing ships etc for people to buy, or ratting.

In a good system thats farmed right, you can have 3m+ of NPCs in each belt

Tripple 1.85m spawns aren't all that rare either

Bare in mind that most corps take a %age thoguh via tax. My corp takes a rather hefty 20% of everything i earn, but it is needed to pay for all the fuel / logistics that are needed for us to contribute to the alliance.
