how far can i OC with stock?

Thread Starter
Well i found this in the nVidia settings, and this is what the "detect optimal settings" put it as. Can I go any higher on stock cooling?

FYI: the default "Core Slowdown Threshold" is 145*C and I havent seen it any higher than 50*C yet

Thanks all

yes you most likely can, though the "detect optimal settings" is usually pretty close to max (with out vmods). Just make sure to watch your temps with everest or speedfan or something.

Yes, of course. the nV driver gives you the "minimal" max overclock. You can push further without loosing stability in most of the cases. The control panel severely underrated the OCing ability of my previous and current nV VID card 7300GT and 8600GT. It may be true for your card, too.

I would go the normal OCing way, pump up 5MHz, test with ATI TOOL + 3DMark. You can start from the max values given by the driver.

145°c is 293°f. I doubt your card could get that hot with out it burning out. Actually, just so you know, most cards die at 85°c. It will usually quit before then. Maybe you should lower that.

Anyways, with stock cooling, you can usually push your card to 50%-80% more of it's original speed. Say you only have a heatsink on your card... you can add a fan and push it 110%-140% faster. Stuff like that. Lapping usually helps a bit too...

BTW, you should post your standard speeds and nominal temps too, that will help us a bit...

AND LINKIN PARK ROX!!!
