Well whenever my pc starts up at post it says the S.M.A.R.T feature is disabled..i know its got something to do with hard drives..so if i enable it, will i gain some sort of advantage..or is it just pointless?

its kinda pointless, because even with it disabled, windows based programs can still acess SMART functions...but i'd enable it, cuz there isnt a performance hit or anything

Yes, there is a performance hit. The HD sends SMART data periodically and this takes data transfers.
