Tuniq Tower - Machine wont boot with it?! - Page 2

The DS3 will not boot with a Tuniq Tower 9 times out of 10. Remove the Tuniq. Place a thin sheet of foam or electrical tape on the back of the motherboard behind the socket. Re-install the Tuniq. The DS3 grounds out and will not boot due to it's electrical layout.

Good to know! I didn't use anything between backplate and the motherboard on both my ASUS P5W DH Deluxe or my ASUS P5N32-E SLI. Guess I've been getting lucky!

True dat, I had the same problem on my board and fixed it with some bogstandard sellotape.

its specific to the giagabyte GA-965P series. i had this problem http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...ghlight=wonglf . i solved it by putting 2 layers of insulating tape on hte back of the motherboard behind the processor and then one on hte backplate itself. i didnt take any pics but i might reseat it in hte next day or 2 so i will then.

it had me scratching my head for about 10 hours, but i got it in hte end.

I have no issues with my P5B-E either. It seems like the DS3 (most likely the S3 as well) is the only one so far.

May I ask how you did so?

Current situation: My temps are 50C idle at STOCK SETTINGS using the Zalman 9500... I'm gonna buy some of the tape described in this thread now and install the TT.

So, if someone could explain where to put the tape and will any tape do??

My hero too.

Success, I put tape on the back of the mobo and now it works fine. Currently:
3.2GHz 46C idle, 57C load.
