Blue Scren when finding Max Core with 7600GT

Thread Starter
Hey,

Just been using ATITool to OC my BFG 7600GT OC. I used to "Find Max Core" function, at around 6-7minutes into the test, my monitor flashed to "the" blue screen and my comp restarted. Why is this? I have the latest official NVIDIA drivers. Was it just running at a too high temp or clock speed?

Thanks in advance

Could be a PSU failure, as voltage demands increased from the rising clock speeds of the GPU.

*Please go to the 'user cp' section and fill out your system specs, so I can help you a little more. It will make for a lot less question-asking.

Don't bother using the Find Max, just change the speeds manually(by small increments) and use Artifact Scanning to test for stability.

looks good..!

I use Rivatuner v.16something to OC all my nvidia and ati cards. It is very easy to use and has an uber-amount of advanced mods and tweaks.

Your card should easily do 600mhz core/ 800mhz mem without any voltage modifications. Just go up in small increments [20mhz at a time or so]..Rivatuner will tell you if the settings are unstable. After your set, run Aquamark3 and round of 3dMark06' for some added stability testing. If you can get some better cooling for that GPU, you can volt mod it and ru 700+mhz on the core, for a real budget powerhouse.

Thats great, thanks for the super quick replies. Im going to install Rivatuner now, I used to use that on my old computer and got some suprisingly decent results with a GF4 MX440 !

About cooling, any reccomendations for my card? are they easy enough to install? I've built this setup myself, but never tried modding a part.

Thanks

Zalman makes excellent air coolers for all types of grafix cards. They are also extremely easy to install...4 screws and a little thermal paste..your off and running with almost a 20c drop in temps, and more room for OC! While cooling RAM is good, keeping the GPU cool is best for performance and more mhz on your OC.

Agreed, a Zalman would rock the casbah. You get quieter running and much lower temps.
