Conroe Build?

Thread Starter
I've been out of the computer buying scene for a while. However, im now looking to make my first intel build ever.

Since I've been out of the loop of computer techonology for a while. Could someone please tell me what is the best bang for the buck now adays?

I'm a gamer and I'm looking to get as much fps in all games as i possibly can. I however do not want to upgrade my current video card, x1900xt. Also, is a conroe build a quality build? If I did go with a conroe, I'd more than likely buy the E6600. Seems like a good cpu, then again i could be wrong. Also I want a very good OCing motherboard, and if you could suggest some ram. That'd just be great <3.

Enough said, show me whats out there guys. I'm basically looking for a MOBO / CPU / RAM and a Water CPU socket thing for my custom water cooling kit.

post links with whats the best out there. remember, bang for the buck!

yeah I think it's going to be 266 dollars, which is nuts. best proc for the money by far when that happens

it'll be 266 yeah. per CPU in 1000 unit quantities directly from intel.
newegg will probably have them somewhere around 280-320.

haha right.

anyone got any disagreements with what he suggested?

also, the quad core cpu. lol, how much faster is that than my good old 3700+

EDIT:
How much money do you think I could get for my RAM / MOBO / CPU now a days? (And estimation would be great <3)

yes wait for price drop. intel cpu's are going to be at a more reasonable price.
