Cant overclock AMD 6000+

Thread Starter
Processor: AMD 6000+ X2 Dual Core
Mobo: Asus M2A-MVP 480x Crossfire

Everytime I go up to 215FSB which is 3.2Ghz around, how come it always hangs during the load screen of windows login. I've upped the voltages sometimes, changed the multiplier.

Any help would be great =)

Some people on here have gotten 3.3 on 6000s.

However, 3 GHz is about as fast as the K8 Architecture allows. I wouldn't even expect 310 FSB without lowering the CPU Mult first. Try lowering the Mult, and then try upping the FSB after that, and also make sure HTT link is set to 4x.

No matter what you do, though, don't expect too much more than 3 GHz out of that chip.

I'd say 9x is as low as I'd bother to go, because getting 3 GHz below 9x means really high FSB, so 9x + would be best.

Yea you're not going to get much higher than stock on that chip because as stated it's already about maxed out. To get any higher on your cpu you'll need to up your voltage to the cpu or Vcore. try something like 1.45v and check our download section for utilities to watch your temps and test for stability. Don't let your temps go over 55C under a load. Under 50C would be ideal for everyday use.

I'm running a BIOSTAR TForce 550, and found it pretty easy to OC my 6000+.

Have it currently sitting rock solid @ 3.36 1.5vcore and could most likely get it to 3.4 stable if I pumped more volts, but I'm not, and it's staying at 3.36

I'm running DDR2-667, so it's freq stocks at 333Mhz, and I'm running it at 373Mhz, at CPU/9 Divider.

Using a X14 Multiplier and 240Mhz FSB to achieve 3360Mhz. It's working out great, I'm using a Rosewill Z3 heatsink which is working unbelieveably well.

So yeah, these things CAN and WILL OC (with good stepping mind you).

i.e.

In this pic, I used Direct Air Conditioning to Syphon off the heat along with the Rosewill heatsink.
