Random Taskbar Problem

Thread Starter
one day i turned on my comp and not a single process started up on start-up.

i went into the msconfig and the only thing in the startup list is my video drivers.

now i know that in there you can check and un-check things to turn them on or off sort-to-speak. but how do you ADD things too it? because my sound drivers wont load at all and no icons will load in the bottom right corner.

using windows XP by the way.

thanks

There are dozens of services you would have to add, I have no idea how, and I know it will take hours and hours, I recommend repair installation or a complete reformat, or eventually using a restore point.

did you update any drivers or download anything new before the computer was rebooted? You might just wanna try and use sys restore, if that doesnt work, then youll need to format and restore windows XP on your computer

yea, well thanks. i was thinking that would be the case. was hoping it wouldn't have to come to that but i guess i'll just leave it. its on my backup comp so i really dont care that much, i would have just like to fix it a lot easier. i'll attempt a repair with the XP cd.

thanks
