Ultra 120 Extreme or Tuniq Tower for my OC'ed Q6600?

Thread Starter
Getting a new rig and want to clock it to 3.0 GHz and no higher. Which of these are better? I have heard them both mentioned and curious if anyone has any real-world details with the Q6600 using one of these and the results.

Will it keep my temps under 65 Celsius? Also, I do not want to put in any extra work. I want to buy a cooling kit and put it right on; no sanding it, etc.

Or if you recommend another air cooler then by all means post it as well.

If it helps my case will be the Coolermaster Stacker 830, 4 x 1GB RAM, 8800GTX.

ultra 120 extreme

beats the tuniq slightly and yes it will keep your temps under 65 degrees celcius with that oc

I don't have any real world experience with those coolers, but I can tell you I have my chip @ 3ghz stable as a rock with 1.4v. It's max temp never goes above 55C with my Zalman 9500. Both coolers you have chosen perform better than mine. So you should be able to get 3.2-3.4 easy.

At 3.0Ghz, whichever is cheaper. That's no insane OC on a Q6600 so doesn't require extreme cooling. As long as you A) Seat the best you can B) have proper air flow within your case... either will be fine.

Stable + Orthos + Screenshots after an hour? =D Those are insane temps on-air for a Quad-Core CPU.

What week did you get? what vCore do you have to use to sustain a stable 3.2ghz with those kind of temps?

1.32vcore for 3.2ghz
FSB @ 430mhz
ambients around 21c
week is listed in the sig..as is the cpuz verification for my 3ghz oc...I use Prime95 and TAT for loading [TAT set to load all cores by 75% and then one instance of Prime95 set on large FTT's. After one hour, temps went up by 2c and stayed level for another 3hrs...its very cool in my basement.

Holy...my Ultra 120 eXtreme just arrived. I'm using an E6600 though, but I'll report back nonetheless on my results. Check my sig rig for the current idle/load temps @ 3.33GHz.

One instance of Prime95? Try Orthos X 2 and see if that changes. =)

And post pictures! CPUZ Verification means NOTHING.

My 3Ghz Orthos X 2 run on load was 55c @ 1.31v. I have higher ambients than most of the people on the boards.

I wanna see Orthos x 2 after an hour on your CPU. =DDD

Both are great coolers, but don't expect miracles if your ambient temps are high.
