Ultra 120 Extreme or Tuniq Tower for my OC'ed Q6600? - Page 3

Just for GP..I started my cpu up on the stock cooler, once windows was installed and up...45c at idle and 63c load in under 10minutes!!!

When I switched to the Tuniq at stock, my vcore was reading 1.22-1.26v and temps went down to 37c idle and 49c in a 30min test run using TAT @ 100% on all cores.

Intel stock cooling is teh sux!

By the way, if you're setting Core to 1.28v and you're completely stable @ 3.0Ghz, your CPU week is killer!

So, temps really haven't improved all that much. Used to idle @ 33C, down to about 28C now, though the load temps haven't improved one inch. Still around 48C. I might get a lapping kit relatively soon if this AS5 doesn't burn in, because this cooler really is a major PITA to get installed. Argh!

The Ultra Extreme is a PITA the first 5 times, after that you get the hang of it. IDK about the TT.

I hate seating the Tuniq...I'm sure if i tryed re-seating i could get a bit lower temps, but it's pretty hard to get it right because you need like four hands to get the screws in the holes before you set it down completely on your cpu. Otherwise, it is gonna be twisting and turning until you get the screws in the holes, lol

Same with the Ultra, but I've got it down to a science
