I know what you mean.

I wouldn't expect any kind of gaming performance from anything lower than an 8600GT or similar I should think to be honest. I get the feeling anything below that is really only meant for HTPCs or people who want DX10 but don't game.

I mean... this 8400GS can't even run Final Fantasy XI at decent frames. The 7800GS+ that I'm using at the moment in my old rig blows it away.

G80 series cards run reasonably warm anyway. My 8800GTX ran at 60C+ with stock cooling, 50C+ with third party cooling and I only managed 40C+ with water cooling.

Although ... 60C on an idle 8500 seems pretty hot.
