Building a new computer low budget

Thread Starter
So I was hearing of price drops on Intel but I don't know when that is gonna happen. Anyways i was looking to get a new computer. I really only have 700$ to spend but if there is anything better than my HP pavilion 753n that I use now, and i would be able to upgrade it later, that would be great

So far i was thinking of getting an E6600 for the processor. I'm not sure what is a good motherboard though and I also don't know what would be good for ram but I would want at least 2Gigs.
I'm not sure what HDDs i would need either.

Can you please help me out.

Welcome to the forum.

Can you provide us with a few more information?
-You are aiming for a gaming computer, correct? What is the resolution you'll be playing at so we know which card is the right for you, since you're on a low budget.
-When are you planning to order a setup if someone give you a build? July 22nd is the rumor of the Intel's Price Drop. Q6600 = $266.

Well my monitor that i use now has a max resolution of 1024x1280 but most of the time, i run games at a little less than that since they run slowly fullscreen. I have never really used a good computer so I am not sure what to expect. Preferably i would like to be able to run something like HL2 or BF2 somewhat good or maybe even crysis at a playable framerate. I also already have vista so no need to buy that.
