XFX 7950GT agp cooling question

Thread Starter
I have a Zalmon that I got a while back for my BFG 6800GT. I had hopes of using this on my new XFX 7950 but it's a no go. Mounts do not line up. I suppose I could modify to fit but first I'd like to see if anything is out that would fit. If I can't find anything I will probably buy another and modify. I'll leave this one on for future sale.

There's the Zalman VF900, and the artic cooler accelero S1
the thermalright V1 and the thermaltake TMG ND2 should work aswell. layout for 7900gt is the same as the 7950 gt no?

No. He has the AGP version. Like the 7900GS, it probably has different mounts and a capacitor maybe in the way.
Once again...

Those heatsinks should work... But the thing I would be concerned with is that the card is AGP - which means it has the damn HSI bridge chip. That has to stay cool, so if your stock cooler cools both the core and the HSI, you're up that creek.

I'd really like another Zalman but evidently what works for the 7900 will not work for the 7950. I very carefully checked out the hole alignment and all 4 holes of card will not line up with cooler at the same time.

It can be done without mods... but only using two holes.

Yea I read this in another forum yesterday. I want to use all four though. I might just end up making a bracket. Thanks though, I appreciate the input.

I also have the agp xfx7950 512mb with the hsi bridge chip. I am wondering if anyone else has found other cooling solutions yet. Im curious what h/s jl544 put on his hsi bridge chip. I had a socket A thermaltake H/S on my modded 9700pro back in the day with 4 vr's and heatsinks on the memory. I am also looking for any mods, pencil or pen tricks etc to help me oc since I have heard that this is not a reference card. Thanks guys.

I'm going to do this to my new card when it comes in. I've had problems with card failures so XFX is doing a burn in on a new one for me before sending out. The temps with the stock cooling have been around the mid 60's or so. I'd like to lower some. What are your temps under load?
