Windows Virtual Memory Not Turning OFF!

Thread Starter
So I received my 2x 1GB sticks and decided to make the system be a little easier on my HDD by turning off the Windows Virtual Memory or Pageing File... So I went to the Performance thing and turned off the virtual memory and clicked set then restarted my computer. It shows in there that the currently allocated paging file is 0MB which I want but then if I go into Task Manager and look at the Virtual Memory usage everything is using it. Howdo I turn it totally off? The image attached shows the problem with it showing none allocated but then it is using some in task manager.

I wouldn't recommend turning off your page file. even if you have 2 gigs of ram. I still let windows manage mine, and it seems to perform great!
unless you can prove me wrong?

No I have just heard about hpw if Windows decides to use the Pageing File it just becomes harder on your hard drive. Because your hard drive is trying to act like ram (reading stuff VERY VERY fast) and it gets warmer because of this.

what windows xp shows in taskmanager is the total of physical ram and virtual ram .. you have 2gigs it'll show 2 gigs
if you have page set at 2gig and 2 gigs ram it'll show 4gigs
you have the page set correctly to 0

keep in mind some games and apps require a pagefile
i wouldn't disable it as the only time it will really be used heavily is if you're out of physical ram
