Anyone know how loud a TT gets with Silverstone?

I am wondering about upping my TT with a ~110CMF fan... Silverstone is a name I read all the time...

also if you feel like it, recommend a better fan... I own a few Yate Loons but those are lower CMF than the stock fan, right?

You mean the FM121?

It is the same noise for me to the standard TT fan.

And it has a Fan speed ajuster anyway

Yes, the Silverstone FM121

so you mean at that the FM121 at full speed sounds like the stock fan at full speed? That is quite unbelievable... I am sure you mean it "practically sounds like"... but I guess it might be such a small difference that one might not be able to notice...

and one more thing... what's with the Silverstone FM121-B it seems the only difference it the price... ?

I, actually, just bought that fan and installed it yesterday!

It moves a lot of air, and really is suprisingly quiet. My 93cfm Thermaltake 120mm is rated at 45 db on max, the silverstone is rated at 39db. I stuck it on my Radimax Smilodon 120mm intake, but because its sucking through mesh already and then blowing through rather small holes, the 110cfm is negated big time.

Not a bad fan, but personally I would buy just another Thermaltake A2018 fan for a lower price and blue LEDs.

if you're looking for MAJOR cfm, with little regard to noise, check this site out.

Cranked all the way up, it's loud. Not unbearably loud, but it's a "Damn-is-that-your-computer?" whenever somebody walks in my room kind of loud. I get maybe a 1-2° degree change in temperature from low to high with the BT and FM121. But it was a huge improvement over the stock fan. Idle temps were basically the same, but load temps improved by bounds. 5° if I remember right.

Its as loud as the fan, the cooler really made no difference in sound. It comes (both the stock fan and the silverstone) with a fan controller, so turn it up if your rigs hot and turn it down if it isnt

Lone Ranger.... no, I don't care about lights, and really wish this thing didn't sound like I live close to an airport where all the planes are grounded but perpetually taxing around... hehe, thanks though

Bounty... I saw that and placed the order for the cheaper one (planning on keeping the TT controller on it) thanks for the post though it made me feel less un-certain about my purchase

FlaKing... Whoa!! Happy news, I like the part where you said 5C cooler at load over the stock fan!!! yea baby yea!!! much investment (and less effort!) better than lapping and I already started that... also thanks for being up-front about the noise level... so the 5C can come in handy but you can fine-tune it to get a bit less and not go insane

Kopi... with your review do you really think you need to be helping people any more than you already have?!? hahah... Dude, that is great info! I was worried that the small openings of the TT's grill would whistle or something... you rock...

I've been running that on my ClawHammer Rig for about a year or so. It is the first great heatpipe cooler and with that fan it really does the job.

I find it annoying though. It is a 4200 rpm fan so it makes a high pitched sound that makes me want to kill something soft and furry after a few hours.

I usually run it at it's slowest speed that is at the threshold of annoying: 1800 RPM.

I jus bought two of those for a fan test I am doing and ran one on the RAD for a 1/2 hour at full tilt and frankly had to leave the room.

Granted it is on a techstation with no baffling--but I think it's a bit too loud for full RPM full time operation...for me anyway.

But its a great fan--and the controller is eaasily mountd anywhere ou care to drill a 5/16" hole.

Maybe I'll set that to the side-pannel, once I modd the opening to take a 120mm a bit lower cause the TT doesn't let me mount on the original opening on my A900

thank you for the info... all of you got me up to speed on something I never really looked into
