Now, what I will do if I need to is simply cut the extra metal that does not affect the card of course.

what you explained right here will work just fine. I did this for my DVI card for my walnut computer a few months ago.

Yeah, since its a low profile card, cutting the bracket is OK. Better still if you get a low-profile bracket like this: http://www.directron.com/vcbracket.html

I'd send you one, but the only low-profile bracket I have is for a modem...
